Day 3 a go for CPCA after rain delays in Poundmaker

Jun 17, 2022 | 10:55 AM

After two days of being rained out, the Canadian Professional Chuckwagon Association (CPCA) is going ahead with competition in Poundmaker Cree Nation.

Rainfall and a lack of sun affected track conditions in Poundmaker, which caused the cancellation of races on Wednesday and Thursday. The second stop on the CPCA tour will move to a three-day event, barring further issues from rain.

After the first weekend of chuckwagon racing in Yorkton, Jamie Laboucane of St. Walburg sits atop the CPCA standings. Todd Baptiste of Red Pheasant Cree Nation (2019 champion) and Logan Gorst of Meadow Lake (2021 champion) round out the top three.

Races are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. at the Valley View Meadows Race Track, with Sunday’s finale beginning at 2:00 p.m. For live stream links, go to the CPCA Facebook page.
