Snoezelen Room Dedication at BTEC

Mona Leece, Executive Director of BTEC was very pleased to show off our new state of the art Snoezelen Room which we are naming “the Corey and Jodi Chmelnyk Snoezelen Room” in appreciation of all the support that they have given us on behalf of the North Battleford PBR Committee.

When you attend the PBR, buy a drink or a 50/50 ticket, this is just one of the many things in our community that you support.

For those who are not aware Snoezelen or controlled multisensory environment (MSE) is a therapy for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, dementia or brain injury. It consists of placing the person in a soothing and stimulating environment, called the “Snoezelen room”.

We are so pleased that the PBR is now called “The McDonalds Colby Cave Memorial PBR Classic presented by Serafina Energy and The Gold Eagle Casino”. This seems like fate as Colby, along with having been a summer student at BTEC was also the grandson of our former Executive Director Don Amos. Colby made it a point to stop in at BTEC whenever he was in town to see the staff and participants; he also made it a point to attend the PBR every year even after he left for the big leagues.
