The North Battleford Beavers kick off a busy Thursday slate in the North Sask River Baseball League (NSRBL), as the team travel to Unity for Game 2 of their quarterfinal best-of-three series with the Junior Cardinals.

The number-two-seeded Beavers need a win to force a third and deciding game back in North Battleford Tuesday, after falling 13-9 in their opener with the seventh-place Junior Cardinals Tuesday. Tonight’s game in Unity will begin at 6:30 p.m.

One of three games on the schedule, also in action this evening will be Game 2 between the top seeded Macklin Lakers and eighth place Mervin Flyers in Mervin, and third-place Wilkie Brewers and sixth-seeded Kindersley Stallions in Kindersley.

The Flyers will also be looking to bounce back from a 17-3 loss in their opening game with the Lakers Tuesday, to extend their season on their home field at 6:30 p.m.

The Brewers and Stallions played their first game of the series last night, Wednesday in a 5-4 Brewers win, as Kindersley also look to preserve their playoff hopes on their home field with 6:30 p.m. start.

Last night’s NSRBL action saw the first team punch their ticket to the semi-finals, as the fifth-place Standard Hill Lakers topped the fourth-place Meadow Lake Sox 7-3 to take their series 2-0.
