The Western Development Museum (WDM) in North Battleford is gearing up to host a fun event called “History In Motion.”

The show will take place Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with activities starting at 10 a.m.

Among the big highlights of the day will be the CAA Saskatchewan Parade of Power.

“We will have all of the horse-drawn, vintage vehicles, the gas machines and the steam-powered machines. They parade around the main street of our Heritage Village,” WDM branch manager, Joyce Smith, said. “It’s really interesting to see. People really enjoy it. It’s probably one of the most popular [attractions] of the event.”

Another highlight will be the City of North Battleford Fire Department bringing one of their new fire engines to display.

Smith said it will be fascinating to find out how much the trucks have changed over the years.

“You can see what a 1928 [fire engine] looked like and what the newer ones look like,” she said.

Throughout the day, people can take in many activities and demonstrations at the Heritage Village as well as inside the museum.

There will also be a Show and Shine of vintage vehicles. People are also invited to bring their own vehicle to take part in a type of “people’s choice” contest for a chance to win a prize.

“If people want to bring in their own vehicle, they can bring it in and just register with us. We will put it out there,” Smith said.

Among the other highlights during the day, the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Community Development Corp. (BATC-CDC) will have a children’s activity area.

There will also be live entertainment to enjoy.

Visitors can also take in the Teepee Teachings from Kanaweyimik Child and Family Services in the Teepee Village.

For the full details about the History In Motion event, people are invited to see the WDM North Battleford website.
