Nipawin RCMP are charging a 19-year-old man after he allegedly spat at a business employee.

On July 31, the Mounties were called to the 1500 block of Highway 35 in Nipawin after getting a report of a potential assault.

Daylen Laliberty from Cumberland House, who fled before RCMP arrived, was found an hour later in the community leaving a residence on Second Street West.

After arresting him and during their initial search, they found a knife, a can of bear spray, and a small bag of suspected cocaine and pills.

Laliberty has since been charged with one count of assault, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of breaching a probation order.

He was also ticketed for driving without a license and for having open alcohol in a vehicle.

Laliberty will make his next court appearance in Melfort Provincial Court on Aug. 31.
