Hordyski, Klassen seeking mayor chair in October byelection

Joe Hordyski and Matthew Klassen will campaign in a two-way race in the upcoming mayoral by-election in La Ronge.
Hordyski and Klassen are both sitting members of council. Hordyski was elected as a councillor in the November 2020 general election, while Klassen lost out to Colin Ratushniak for the top spot at that time. He was later elected as a councillor in a November 2020 by-election following the passing of Hugh Watt.
The current by-election is taking place after Ratushniak stepped down from his position in July.
Residents of the Town of La Ronge will head to the polls Oct. 5 to elect a new mayor. By law, council was required to set a date for a by-election no more than six months after the date the vacancy officially began.
