ML Legion plans to hold memorial to honour Queen Elizabeth

Meadow Lake area residents are invited to attend a local ceremony to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who passed away Sept. 8.

Royal Canadian Legion Branch 76 Meadow Lake plans to hold a memorial on Sept. 19, from 10:55 a.m. to 11:15 am. at the cenotaph, located beside the Legion building at 109 First St. W.

Alloha Twanow, the Meadow Lake Legion Poppy Chair, is helping organize the event.

She said it will be a simple gathering, with two minutes of silence and a laying of wreaths. As well, the “Last Post” will be performed.

Twanow said the ceremony will follow the Legion Act of Remembrance.

“All branches are invited to participate in a memorial event if they so choose.”

Twanow said the event will be a nice way to pay tribute to the Queen.
