If you think of the best parts of autumn, you think of crisp air, corn mazes, hot chocolate, pumpkin pie, and maybe some excuses to get a bit scared. Paintball Paradise has combined all of those fall staples into one location with their haunted corn maze branded as ‘Haunted Paradise’.

The corn maze, always one of their most popular attractions in the fall, returns along with family games, tic-tac-toe, pumpkins for sale, Fair Tale Trail of “Jack and the Cornstalk” and a mini bale maze for kids. For the thrill seekers, there’s a brand-new attraction as well that should bring plenty of chills to the haunted maze.

“This year, we’re putting together a haunted church,” said George Lewko, founder of Paintball Paradise in Prince Albert. “That’s something brand new we’ve never done before.”

The haunted church is so new that they’re still brainstorming ideas on what exactly will go in there, but it will be one of the scarier aspects of the maze, which will be set up in their old barn. It will be open after 8:00 p.m. so the adults can enjoy a good scare. It’s just one part of what promises to be a great haunted corn maze and haunted house, which is always a popular attraction in October.

If you want to let your kids run around in the haunted corn maze, that can keep them occupied for two to three hours in the evenings according to Lewko, but during that time parents can also find some fun as they’ve got campfire sites set up. They’ve also, fittingly for a spot operated at Paintball Paradise, set up some shooting games.

It’s the haunted maze and haunted house and the new haunted church that are the most popular attraction though, and for those who don’t mind a little bit of a fright, it’s a must-see Halloween destination.

The maze will open up in the last three weekends of October, and operate Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday and Sunday during the day. Daytime hours, from 2:00 to 7:00, are family hours with nothing scary happening there. On Friday and Saturday nights, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm it’s a little scary thanks to help from some actors.

“We start off scary, but if you say stop, the actors will likely stop,” said Lewko. “That’s when we add the actors in at 7:00 pm.”

Those same actors ramp it up a notch after 8:00 pm.

“It’s much scarier… We call it adult time, after 8:00 pm,” Lewko said. “That’s the most popular time. People like to get scared.” After 8 pm, all tickets are adult tickets price.

One of the scariest aspects of the maze, in addition to the new haunted church, is the McEye House (Haunted House). A frightening legend surrounds the house, which involves a family trapped in the house in the wintertime with no food and… well, you’ll just have to travel to the maze to find out the rest for yourself.

Aside from the spooky stuff, you can enjoy some perfect fall treats to help warm you up as the weather cools down. They’ll be serving burgers, hot dogs, fries, poutine, mini-doughnuts with several different spices, homemade pumpkin soup, popcorn, and cotton candy. Hot chocolate is also a big seller.

The haunted maze is five miles southwest of Prince Albert. If you travel down Highway 11 or Highway 2 you can get there, though Lewko cautions if you get to the turnoff for MacDowell on Highway 11, you’ve gone too far. Head out on Lincoln Park Road and you’ll find the perfect fall destination!
