North Battleford firefighters battled two structure fires in the downtown area overnight Wednesday and early Thursday morning.

The city reported one building was located on the 1400 block of 101 Street in North Battleford, while the other was on the 1600 block of 102 Street. Both sites were uninhabited, abandoned residences.

Fire Chief Lindsay Holm commended his crew on their quick response to the fires.

“Our team did a great job of containing the two structure fires on a very busy night,” he said in the city’s release. “Thankfully, no one was injured and the adjacent properties were not damaged due to the successful containment by our crews.”

A total of 14 full-time and paid-on-call firefighters responded to the blaze at 1452 101 Street at 9:34 p.m. on Wednesday night.

For the second fire, 15 firefighters responded after being dispatched to the location at 1661 102 Street at 12:15 a.m. Thursday morning.

The crews were back in service at 2:45 a.m., Thursday.

The city said the two structures are scheduled for demolition today and is asking the public to use caution when traveling in these areas currently.
