A major fundraiser for KidSport Prince Albert exceeded its fundraising goal this past weekend.

The Scissor Lift and Spin for KidSport fundraiser took place at The S2DIO on October 1 as teams of four spun as hard as they could to raise a ton of money for the local charity.

When all was said and done, the event raised more than expected.

“It looks like we’re at about $10,000,” committee member with KidSport, Dwight Bergstrom, said.

“We had set a goal of $8,000 as what we hoped to raise this year. It still leaves us with some work to do for the committee on some other fundraising but for this particular project, we’re pretty happy with that.”

Bergstrom said 100 per cent of the funds raised will go directly to families who need it through KidSport.

The non-profit helps families facing financial obstacles pay for sports opportunities for their kids.

Bergstrom adds despite many people feeling the effects of high inflation and a high cost of living, they still collected a lot of donations.

Desiree Hesson, owner of The S2DIO said the event was a huge success from their end.

“It was so much fun. The positivity and the energy that was in the building that day was absolutely incredible,” she said. “Everyone knew that they were riding for the kiddos and that just kinda brought a different bit of energy.”

Hesson added some of the teams of four that [participated were sponsored by local businesses and other teams raised the money themselves.
