If it seemed like there were more tornadoes than normal in Saskatchewan in 2022, that’s because there were.

In a post on social media Tuesday, Environment and Climate Change Canada said the province experienced 25 twisters during tornado season, the most in the province since 2012.

Four of the tornadoes were rated as EF-2, which typically have wind gusts of between 111 and 135 kilometres per hour. Four were rated as EF-1 (with gusts between 86 and 110 km/h) and 17 were considered EF-0 (gusts between 65 and 85 km/h).

There wasn’t any damaged reported in any of the EF-0 tornadoes.

There were seven tornadoes recorded in the province on June 29, four on July 8, three on July 15, two each on June 10, July 5 and Aug. 4, and one on each of May 17, June 20, June 23, July 17 and July 26.

The communities of Cymric and Serath each endured two tornadoes on June 29.
