The North Battleford Comprehensive High School Vikings will look to continue their roll Thursday night in their return to their home field at Beaver Lions Stadium against Saskatoon’s Evan Hardy.

The team enters play 3-1 on the season, coming off back-to-back victories, including most recently a 47-22 win over Marion Graham in their home opener last week.

Head coach of the Vikings Mike Humenny said their success stems from a strong foundation at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

“We feel as a coaching staff that our line of scrimmage play– both on the offensive and defensive line– has been awesome so far this year, and that’s been the overall strength of our team,” Humenny said.

“Everything we do after that is predicated on how we do at the line, whether on defense with a strong pass rush or defending against the run, and likewise with the offense. Our ability to run the ball really sets up a lot of things for our offense, so that’s been great to see.”

The coach added that heading into another strong test Thursday against Saskatoon’s Evan Hardy, the Vikings will need to continue to be at their best.

“Once again we’re facing a well-coached team, and we’re expecting big things from our guys tonight,” Humenny said.

“We’re just trying to keep our guys getting better every game. Defensively, there’s been a few times each game we’ve given up a big play that leads to a score, so we’re going to try to eliminate that, and on the offensive side of the ball we just want to keep rolling with the pass game and run game again tonight.”

Kickoff Thursday night will be at 7 p.m. at Beaver Lions Stadium, located right next to the Access Communications Centre (Civic Centre) in North Battleford.
