Cal Gratton is the new face of the Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber (MTACC).

Gratton will serve as its new executive director, after the resignation of former executive director, Cam Lee, back in August.

Both Gratton and Lee spent time in the radio industry, right here in Melfort, before beginning their positions with the Chamber.

“Cal brings wide and varied experience to us through his work in the media, leadership and volunteerism. Cal is an active member of our community with roots going back to his youth. It is the combination of Cal’s experience, abilities and long-term roots that will help our Chamber to develop focus and move forward with our goals to unify the business community, promote Melfort business to the greater trading area and celebrate giving back to the community,” the MTACC said in a release sent to northeastNOW.

As for the man himself, he explained his excitement regarding what he believes the future is for both the city and the organization.

“I’ve always said that residents and people in the area need to shop local and I think it’s very important to have a chamber that speaks for the business owners and is transparent, accountable and accessible,” Gratton said.

And after roughly a two-month transitionary break for the alliance, Gratton mentioned there are many things planned on the horizon.

According to him, being a familiar face and voice in the area will help him in the beginning.

“‘I’m really looking forward to meeting the businesses that I already know and the businesses that I that I’m not exactly familiar with, I’d like to meet with them as well.”

With the Chamber turning a new page, they are expected to be more visible.

“It’s a great time to be in Melfort,” Gratton said.

In a final statement by the Chamber, they congratulated Gratton on his new role.

“We look forward to working with him in anticipation of what the future may bring,” the statement said.
