Victoria Hospital pediatric unit looking to raise funds to buy new comfort items for kids
Staff at the Victoria Hospital’s pediatric unit are aiming to get new comfort items for the kids they help.
They’ve created the ‘Nurse for a Day’ fundraiser, with help from the Victoria Hospital Foundation, which will see the unit’s doctors work 12-hour shifts as nurses in an attempt to raise awareness and funds.
The goal is to raise $10,000 which will be used to help buy baby swings, bouncy chairs, teddy bears, art kits, puzzles, and more.
“I think using comfort care items is a great way for the children to feel more comfortable, I’ve witnessed it a few times,” said Dr. Kimberly Bordun, family medicine resident, who spoke about the initiative in a video posted to social media.
