The list of Prince Albert Raiders to represent Canada internationally is a long and storied one. Today, it was officially announced that the list of Raiders to wear Canada’s colours would grow by two.

Team Canada announced their rosters for the World Under-17 Championships this November, and two members of the Prince Albert Raiders are on the list. Forwards Cole Peardon and Ryder Ritchie, both first round picks of the Raiders in the 2021 prospects draft, have been selected to two of Canada’s three rosters for the event.

Peardon, a native of Outlook and the 13th overall pick in the prospects draft, was named to Team Black for the tournament. Peardon has suited up for the Raiders in seven games this season and scored his first WHL goal, coming in a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings.

On Canada Black, Peardon will have plenty of company and will have something in common with a few of his teammates. He is one of seven WHL skaters on the team, and one of four from the league’s Eastern Conference.

Ritchie, who hails from Calgary, was the 14th overall pick in the draft, selected right after Peardon. He has spent a lot of time in the Raiders’ top six forward group this season and has six points in 10 games. He’s also a regular on the Raiders’ second power play unit.

While Peardon missed the selection camp held over the summer due to injury, Ritchie was able to attend and certainly made an impression. He posted three goals in three games during the camp. At the tournament, he’ll be playing for Canada White.

The tournament runs from November 3 to 12 in Langley and Delta, British Columbia. During that span, the Raiders play five games, including road games in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.
