PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Saskatoon Blazers extended their win streak to five games on Wednesday night after defeating the Prince Albert Mintos 5-2 at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Blazers managed three goals in the second period to help them overcome a win hungry Mintos team.

Trae Wilke led Saskatoon in the win putting up two highlight reel goals in the second period. Also with two points for the Blazers was Raiden Zacharias, who had an assist in the first and found twine in the second. Other point getters for Saskatoon were Cole Reschny and Leo Seitz who each lit the lamp, and Reese Hamilton, Josh Knittig, Luke Dahlen, and Emerson Clark each potted assists.

Konnor Watson was the leading scorer for the Mintos with a goal and an assist. Abinet Klassen also scored in the game for the green and gold while Carson Olsen and Raydr Wallington each netted helpers.

Blazers netminder Grayson Malinoski made 16 stops in the win, helping Saskatoon improve to 7-1-0-1 on the year.

Jayden Kraus was between the pipes for the Mintos where he stopped 36 on 41 shots as PA falls to 4-4-0-0 on the campaign.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Mintos came out of the gates firing on all cylinders, scoring within the first five minutes of the contest.

Olsen set up Watson from the point who fired a shot into traffic and ended up finding the back of the net to give PA the early lead.

The lead didn’t last long however with Saskatoon scoring just three minutes later on the powerplay courtesy of Reschny. The score remained tied at one going into the second.

The pressure the Blazers built towards the end of the first transferred over into the middle period. Saskatoon pilled on the offense with a trio of goals with Wilke scoring twice on highlight reel plays and Zacharias adding one more. The Blazers held a 4-1 lead after forty.

Some life sprouted off the Mintos bench early in the third period when Klassen scored his second goal in as many games to make it a two-goal game.

But Saskatoon went on to add one later in the frame to seal it for the Blazers, as they defeated the PA Mintos 5-2.

PA now has two days to rest before they’re back on the road on Saturday when they’ll visit the Bears in Estevan.
