Scam

New scam involves home security systems.

Oct 21, 2022 | 10:50 AM

The Prince Albert Police Service (PAPS) is warning you of a new scam that promises residents the police service will cover the costs of signing up for a new security system.

This is not the case according to police.

Residents who sign up will have to pay their own fees, as the PAPS does not pay for a security system or monitoring.

Police are reminding you to read all information and fine print before signing any new service contracts, or to avoid signing at all if it seems suspicious or there is too much pressure.

Anyone who is concerned about a security system contract, or who has entered into a contract with a fraudulent contractor should report it to police either online at www.papolice.ca or by calling 306-953-4222. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or online at https://www.p3tips.com/248.
