Snow clean-up underway in Battlefords

Residents in the Battlefords and much of northwest Saskatchewan are digging out today after the first big snow event of the year. The city of North Battleford says because of the significant amount of snowfall, removal efforts will continue throughout the day.

Here is the situation around the Battlefords as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

  • The Highway Hotline reports winter driving conditions exist on all major highways in and out of the Battlefords. Highways 376 and 378 northeast of the Battlefords remain closed.
  • The city of North Battleford says community safety officers have been busy all morning assisting with traffic accidents and helping with stuck vehicles.
  • Battlefords Transit service and Handi-Bus Accessible Transit service are not operating today due to the road conditions.
  • The North Battleford airport is currently closed for incoming or departing flights due to icy runway conditions.
  • Canada Post has suspended mail delivery for today, for northwest Saskatchewan.
