More snow on the way
Heavy snowfall, strong winds, and blowing snow are possible this Saturday as a result of an Alberta clipper heading into Saskatchewan. Early Friday morning, Environment Canada issued a winter storm watch for the Battlefords and other areas in the province, early Friday morning.
This winter storm watch comes as the Battlefords continue the dig out from the first major snow event of the season.
Environment Canada says the northern grain belt area can expect between 10 and 20 cm of snow starting Saturday morning. The region includes the Battlefords, Prince Albert, Saskatoon, and Melfort. Special weather statements have been issued for areas north, south, and east of the regions currently under a weather watch.
Environment Canada is encouraging people to avoid travel during the weather event. They say reduced visibility can be expected, and a winter storm warning may be issued as the system develops.
