Wind almost blows away White Fox residents’ $136k LOTTO ticket

Two White Fox residents almost missed out on a big payday.

Orville Miner and Wendy Olson matched six of the seven winning numbers from one of last month’s LOTTO MAX draws, winning just under $136,000.

However, it could have been a much different story. Miner was driving with the window down when, all of sudden, a gust of wind blew all his tickets outside his vehicle.

“I had to get out of the truck and look around the ditch to find them all,” he explained.

As soon as he picked them all up, Miner decided to take them to a store and check to see if anyone of them was a winner. This is where he discovered he had won the six-figure sum.

“I was kind of dumbfounded at first, I didn’t know what to say,” said Miner.

As for Olson, she couldn’t believe the news.

“He’s really into April Fool’s jokes so I didn’t believe him at first,” she said. “I only believed it when I saw the matching ticket number on the claim slip.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Fas Gas Walleye Service in Nipawin.

The pair plan on using the money to “pay off a few things and enjoy life a little better.”
