Pelican Narrows murder results in life sentence
A man responsible for a murder over three years ago in Northeast Saskatchewan, has received a life sentence, and won’t be eligible for parole for 15 years.
George Samuel Custer, 27, was sentenced last Thursday at Court of King’s Bench in Melfort. In addition to the prison sentence, he is prohibited from owning or possessing any firearms or explosives for life and must provide a DNA sample to the national registry.
The case dates back to the night of March 19, 2019, when RCMP in Pelican Narrows received a report of a a shooting on Linklater Street. Shortly after a man was brought to the medical clinic with a gunshot wound. He was later declared deceased.
The subsequent investigation led to charges of second-degree murder against George Samuel Custer and Gregory George Custer in connection with the death of 28-year-old David Jordan Charles.
