Local shopping to benefit those in need this holiday season

The Melfort Trade Alliance and Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) is presenting ‘From Us To You x 2’ once again this holiday season.

The annual Christmas campaign will support local businesses by rewarding customers with the opportunity for prizes, as well as donating gift cards to a family in need.

During the campaign, customers shopping at participating businesses will be handed a passport along with a sticker to validate the purchase.

Customers have an opportunity to hand in their passports at the end of the campaign to any participating business and will be entered in a draw for 18 $25 gift certificates from all of these participating businesses.

Businesses include Catz N Jammers for Kids and Women, Melody Motors, Choice Nutrition, Munro Health and Safety, Diamond Dodge, Northern Lights Gallery, Fountain Tire, Nutters Everyday Naturals, George Home Hardware, Plus Stuff Junction, JBN Promotions, Prairie North Co-op, Lillidae Home and Design, RJ’s Urban Garden Café, Mel-City Floral and Home, Shoppers Drug Mart, Melfort Mustangs, and TJ’s Pizza.

Winners will also be given the gift of paying forward another set of 18 – $25 gift certificates from all participating businesses to a family of their choice who they believe deserves the help during the Christmas season.

Executive director of the MTACC Cal Gratton told northeastNOW there’s a variety of reasons why local businesses are joining the cause.

“They want to help the local economy, they want to help a local needy family or organization this Christmas, and there’s a lot of cross-promotion as well… A lot of the businesses know each other and they look forward to this campaign. It’s been running for a few years now and they’re excited to get involved once again.”

And the more you shop, the better your chances are. If you shop at four participating businesses, you get one entry, 10 businesses get you five entries, and if you shop at all 18, you get 18 entries.

Beginning tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 25, the campaign will run until Dec. 16, with the final draw happening on Dec. 19.

“Our goal, as always, is to promote Melfort as the place to shop, not only during the holiday season but all year round,” added Gratton.
