The Melfort Mustangs have introduced a brand new raffle to celebrate the festive cheer.

The ’12 Days of Christmas’ gives fans a dozen chances to win prizes from local businesses.

Mat Barrett, director of marketing and business, told northeastNOW the lottery gives a little something to everyone.

“This is something completely different that we haven’t really done before… it’s just a way to showcase some local businesses and use it as a bit of a fundraiser for our hockey club,” he said. “There’s a ton of different opportunities to win something for such a cheap price, so we thought this was something a little different for people to get excited about.”

Tickets cost $20 each and will get you into all 12 draws. They can be purchased until Dec. 5, with draws beginning every day at noon, on Dec. 6.

Prizes include a large pizza from Boston Pizza Melfort, a $50 TJ’s Pizza gift card, a $100 Northland Building Supply gift card, a Tim Hortons Prize Pack, a digital air fryer from Canadian Tire in Melfort, a Mustangs Prize Pack from 1st Choice Graphics in St. Brieux, a one-night atay at the Canalta Hotel in Melfort, wine, chocolate, and a cheese basket from the Melfort Liquor Loft, 4 Green Fees + a cart rental at Elk Ridge Resort, nine-hole Punch Cards + 12 ProV 1 golf balls from the Melfort Golf and Country Club, and a Maple Leaf Pendant from Assaly Diamond and Fine Jewellery Boutique in Melfort.

Meanwhile, the grand prize is a Traeger Pro 575 smoker courtesy of Rocky Mountain Equipment in Tisdale, with the draw for that taking place on Dec. 17, during the first intermission of the game between the Mustangs and the Nipawin Hawks at the Northern Lights Palace.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from the Mustang Office, Koffee Grounds, Scotiabank, or any Mustang board member.

Barrett explained how imperative these fundraisers are for the club, and how the local businesses have been so impactful with their support.

“It’s huge, being a community-owned team, you need to find different ways to make sure this team can stay afloat, and fundraising is one of the pieces of the pie,” he added.

“We’re able to get some great donations from our local businesses, and they’ve been awesome in helping us out with this and helping us out with being able to help sell tickets too. It’s really awesome to be able to see them being so generous to us.”
