Terry Hunt is the winner of the La Ronge byelection held Nov. 30.

Hunt won with 106 votes with Jack Senft coming in second with 54. Marlee Proulx had 48 votes and Robert Pacey had 25.

“I’m pretty excited,” Hunt said. “I welcome the challenge and I am at the town office already today and let’s get started.”

Hunt mentioned although turnout for the byelection was low, he is happy with the result and he’s thankful for his supporters who took the time to vote for him.

Hunt campaigned to be a strong voice on council and pledged to establish more activities for seniors and youth, explore housing options to benefit the homeless, and increase the availability of land for private homes.

He also said he’d like to relaunch a neighbourhood crime program, as well as move forward with replacing the Mel Hegland Uniplex.

Hunt has been a resident of La Ronge since 1974.
