Three new directors appointed to Northlands College board

Dec 7, 2022 | 1:52 PM

Northlands College welcomed three new members to its board of directors late last month.

The new members are Elmer Campbell from Buffalo River Dene Nation, Susanne Fern of Fond du Lac, and Robert St. Pierre of La Loche. Each was appointed to three-year terms on Nov. 17 by the Minister of Advanced Education.

The appointments replace Myrna Bouvier, Jackie Durocher, and Victor Fern, all of whom had their terms expire in 2021.

“We want to send our heartfelt appreciation to the past members for their leadership and dedicated service to the Northlands College board of directors and to the residents of northern Saskatchewan by providing educational opportunities,” said acting chair Nick Daigneault in a recent media release.

Susanne Fern is a former Fond du Lac First Nation band councillor and is part owner of SAB’s Contracting, while Campbell is semi-retired and served as the chief of Buffalo Narrows Dene Nation. St. Pierre is a former mayor of La Loche and is now the project liaison manager for NexGen Energy Ltd.

The existing board members are Bev Cheechoo, Daigneault, Val Deschambeault and Ken Gray.

“The entire college community welcome our new board members and we look forward to working with them,” Northlands College CEO Karsten Henriksen said.

“With their experience and knowledge, we are still equipped to lead the way in providing quality education to the communities and residents of northern Saskatchewan.”
