Carlton Trail College donates to local food banks

Dec 22, 2022 | 1:17 PM

Carlton Trail College is thinking local, this holiday season.

Recently, the college donated to five food banks, within its learning region.

The institution said “they’re helping individuals this December, who may rely on a food bank, especially those within the east-central Saskatchewan area.”

The Humboldt & District Food Bank, Lanigan & District Food Bank, Wadena Food Bank, Watrous Food Bank and Wynyard Food Bank are the five on the list of recipients.

Each organization received funds to help them with the purchase of fresh food and other necessities, as they look to help those in need.

An internal food drive is also being supported by Carlton Trail College’s Board and staff members.

Sandy Flory, Carlton Trail College Board Chair, explained they’re just helping to support those, who help support them.

“Our regional food banks are valued community partners that help support our students, and their families, during times of need,” she said.

Flory also added it’s the least they can do, especially at this time of year.

“These contributions are a small way our institution can spread goodwill and support to those who rely on food banks and their services within our region,” said Flory.

Established in 1973, Carlton Trail College combines in-depth, applied learning to provide post-secondary education and skills training, Adult Basic Education, English Language Training and industry and workforce development opportunities to individuals, businesses and organizations across east-central Saskatchewan.
