Jan 10, 2023 | 12:00 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders continue their homestand on Tuesday night as they welcome the Portland Winterhawks to the Art Hauser Centre for the first time since Jan. 11, 2019.

Portland enters the night as the fourth-ranked team in the country and is winless so far on their East Division road trip, falling 3-2 to Brandon on Friday then 6-3 in Winnipeg on Sunday.

Tuesday’s contest will also see the return of two local players on the Winterhawks: Birch Hills’ Rhett Ravndahl and PA’s own Gabe Klassen.

This game is the first meeting between these clubs since the 2019-20 season when the Winterhawks narrowly edged the Raiders 4-3 in Portland.

An updated look at the Eastern Conference standings as of Jan. 10.

Who to Watch

Alternate captain Sloan Stanick had a pair of goals in his previous contest and will look to continue that trend as he creeps closer to a new career high in points. So far this season, the pride of Rapid City, MB has 36 points on the year and sits just nine points shy of a new career high. The speedy forward also sits just five points away from 100 in his career.

Newcomer Aiden Oiring is off to a good start with his new team, registering a goal and assist in his third game with the Raiders. The rookie from Calgary was acquired just before the new year from the ICE as a part of a package for forward Carson Latimer. So far this season, the 17-year-old has six goals and four assists in 29 games.

Forward Carter Anderson potted two assists in Saturday’s contest and will look for a repeat performance against Portland. The 2004-born Thompson, MB product was acquired from Red Deer earlier this season and has nine points on the year, just one point off of tying a career-high in points.
