Members of the community are banding together to help a family which is now without a home.

On Jan. 9, a fire destroyed the new home of Cam Desjardins and his family. Friends say the home, outside of Prince Albert, is not salvageable.

“They were lucky enough to wake up in time to get out so they weren’t able to grab many things on their way out,” said Chris Scriven, who along with his fiancé Deanna has set up a GoFundMe for the family.

“They’re pretty devastated when considering the totality of the loss as there is nothing left to salvage at all and they’re left with what they were wearing at the time,” Scriven added.

He said that was the driving factor in starting the fundraiser to help with clothing and basic necessities to help them get back on their feet.

Right now, there’s no word on what caused the fire.

The GoFundMe has a goal right now of $10,000 with over around $3,000 currently raised.
