Stars shoot for 17th straight, weekend sweep in Estevan
The Battlefords North Stars return to play Saturday night in Estevan, as the team wrap their weekend road swing through southern Saskatchewan, in search of a three-day sweep.
The North Stars (33-0-2-1) sit atop the league standings, having played some of their best hockey of late on the trip. Following a 9-6 victory at Notre Dame Thursday, the team continued their roll Friday in Weyburn, beating the Wings 6-1 to set a new regular season franchise record for consecutive wins with 17 straight.
Estevan will likely prove the toughest challenge yet of the trip, as the Bruins (22-16-1-1) sit atop the Viterra Division and third overall in the league standings. The Bruins have won six of their last 10 and two straight, heading into Saturday night’s contest.
Also on their third game in three nights, Estevan enter play coming off back-to-back 5-3 wins over Yorkton Thursday and Notre Dame Friday.
