Bears fall in third straight as Stars win 5-3

SASKATOON, SK – The Prince Albert Northern Bears put up a fight against the red-hot Saskatoon Stars on Thursday night but couldn’t go the distance falling 5-3 at Merlis Belcher Place.

Keyra Buziak paved the way for the Stars, netting herself a pair of goals and an assist in the game. Ireland Stein also had a multi-point night, scoring once and adding an assist while Kolbee Ashe and Mackenzie Mawson also found the back of the net. Rachel Pavlove, Madison Buziak, and Brielle Minish each had an assist in the game to round out the scoring for Saskatoon.

For the Bears, Sarah McNabb opened the scoring for PA in the first which was followed by a second-period marker by Elizabeth Udell, her first in the league. Julia Cey tickled the twine in the third for her team-leading 19th point of the campaign while McNabb was credited with the lone assist on both goals as she finished with a team-high of three points in her first game in the league.

Brooke Archer got the nod in the game for the Bears where she made 43 stops as PA now falls to 6-16-1-1 on the campaign.

Tora Ward was the opposite netminder in the game for the Stars where she managed 15 saves to help Saskatoon improve to 16-4-0-0 on the year.

The Bears now have an extended break and won’t be back on the ice until Feb. 9 when they host the Regina Avana Rebels at the Art Hauser Centre.
