Raiders rally late to stun Blades 3-1
PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders got their revenge on Saturday night, downing their rival Saskatoon Blades 3-1 at the Art Hauser Centre.
The win comes less than 24 hours after getting walloped by Saskatoon 6-1 in the first game of the home-and-home.
“It was a total mindset change,” said Raiders head coach Jeff Truitt. “We willed our way through a tough game, hard game. We were down 1-0 after two periods and we come back with three goals in the third, it was that work ethic, the details that went into the game. Our guys willed it, they won some battles. We were outshot and we got the goaltending that we needed and we got those opportunities to score and buried them. (I’m) real happy and against a rival like this, it feels good.”
Eric Johnston scored the final goal for the Raiders off a howitzer from the point. The marker was the first of the season for the blueliner where he said the energy of the fans made the goal that much sweeter.
