The La Ronge Ice Wolves saw their three-game win streak end earlier this week in North Battleford when they dropped a 9-3 decision to the North Stars.

The North Stars built up a 6-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of play. The Ice Wolves scored before the end of the first when Thomas Wright tallied his 10th of the season.

Wright added another goal for La Ronge in the third, while Walker Jerome had the other marker for the Ice Wolves Tuesday. All three of La Ronge’s goals came on the man advantage.

Alex Izyk and Brad Blake both scored twice for the North Stars, while Tanner Gold, Jake Southgate, Keiton Klein, Kian Bell and Colby Bear also found the back of the net.

Dawson Smith and Topher Chirico both saw time in the La Ronge net versus the Battlefords. Meanwhile, Josh Kotai made 33 saves for the victory.

With the loss, the Ice Wolves slipped to 25-14-4 on the campaign, which still has them occupying second in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League standings.

La Ronge will next Friday at the Mel Hegland Uniplex when they open a home-and-home series with the Nipawin Hawks. It will mark the last home game until Feb. 25.
