Feb 3, 2023 | 10:57 AM

UPDATE: The witness has been located.

Police are looking for the owner of a 2010 or 2011 Ford Focus that was in the area of 400 South Industrial Drive on Jan. 16, the same day a suspect was shot to death by a member of the Prince Albert Police.

The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) recovered some video evidence that shows the Focus in the area at the time and said it was being driven by a female who may have witnessed something important.

They have not managed to identify the license plate of the Focus. The incident happened at about 10:40 pm.

Family members later confirmed the identity of the man who was shot as Johnathon Gardiner (Daigneault), 34, of Île-à-la–Crosse.

Investigators would like the woman driving the car to call them at 306-933-6342 or email them at sirt@gov.sk.ca.

The investigation is being done by SIRT as per provincial law when a police officer is involved in the death of another person.
