Hawks give up late goal in fourth straight loss
The Nipawin Hawks fell 2-1 in Notre Dame Thursday losing its fourth straight game as they see their once secure seventh-place in the SJHL standings dwindle to a pair of points.
At one point in January, the Hawks were nine points ahead of the eighth-place Weyburn Red Wings, who are now just two points behind the Hawks. Nipawin head coach Tad Kozun wasn’t pleased with his clubs’ effort in Wilcox as the Hawks begin a three-game road swing.
“I didn’t think we were that great tonight,” he said on the postgame show of Rona Nipawin Hawks Hockey. “That first period— if it wasn’t for Fells [Jackson Fellner, Hawks goaltender] in net that game could have gotten ugly quick.”
The first period ended 0-0 despite the Hounds’ 18 shots on the Nipawin net.
