The annual Carrot River and Churchill Regional Invitational Competition was held in Shellbrook this past weekend, and there was no shortage of crowd pleasing moments.

Close to 200 skaters competed at the event, including 30 from the Prince Albert Skating Club, who ranged in age from eight years old to late 50’s.

“PASC is so proud of all our skaters and would like to congratulate Morgan Burns for winning the senior dance award, along with many firsts and lasts,” Club Coach Carla Jenkins said.

In addition to the athletes from regions 11 and 12, the event also featured the higher levels up to Gold Star which brought skaters from other regions like Saskatoon. These levels are not offered at every regional event.

Among some of the competition’s highlights was the club’s prejunior starskate group attending their first ever competition; Grace Vedress landed her first double flip in competition; and Madison Pettem-Mark skated her way to a gold medal in elements in her last competition.

“Thank you to all the donors, sponsors, volunteers, officials, coaches and parents for all their hard work in putting together this awesome event,” Jenkins said.

PASC has over 300 skaters registered this season from age three to 50.

The athletes are continuing their training this week in preparation for Sask Winter Games , as well as the upcoming Canada Winter Games, skating assessments, winter classic and the year end ice show on March 12 at 2 p.m.
