Man accused of stealing house back in court in March

Feb 14, 2023 | 11:00 AM

The case of a man accused in the theft of a house was back in Melfort Provincial Court on Monday.

Court heard that 32-year-old Matthew Malley faces a variety of charges although only some of them relate to the theft of the house.

All of the charges were adjourned until Malley’s next court date on March 6.

Malley was charged after the house went missing from the Crooked River area back in June of 2022. The house was mounted on a trailer. RCMP said the house disappeared somewhere between midnight and noon the following day, June 14.

Malley, who is from Codette, just south of Nipawin, is charged with theft under $5,000, uttering threats, and assault with a weapon.

The house was found in a rural area near Nipawin in July.

Malley was not in court for Monday’s appearance, and his lawyer appeared by phone.
