Feb 14, 2023 | 1:24 PM

The Prince Albert Police Service is investigating an incident where a woman, who was presumably just out getting her mail, was approached and threatened by a stranger with a knife.

This happened around 7 p.m. Monday night, in the 500 block of 10th St. NW. at Nordale.

Fortunately the woman was not physically hurt, but the suspect did get away with her purse. Police also confirmed the suspect, who had fled on foot, had also tried to steal the woman’s car but was unsuccessful.

According to the victim’s family, the suspect was dressed all in black, and was wearing a black and white bandana. They were also between 5-8 and 5’9 and weigh about 180 pounds.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call city police or Crime Stoppers.

According to a post on the Nordale Concerned Citizens page, a man dressed all in black had been lurking around the mail boxes all day. (Facebook)

A local resident who reached out to paNOW after Monday night’s incident and cited a number of safety concerns in the area.

In addition to the area being used as a drop off spot for stolen vehicles, the man said there’s constant transient behaviour going on and multiple requests to the city for additional lighting have gone nowhere.

paNOW reached out to the city manager and Ward Coun. Terra Lennox-Zepp. Neither could comment on whether an application for lighting was made.
