RCMP have confirmed a charge has been laid in connection with the theft earlier this month of the gold-coloured van used by the Prince Albert Wrestling Club.

Erin Whitefish, 33, is scheduled to appear in court on March 9, and is facing a single charge of possession of property obtained by crime.

The van that’s used by the club to pick members up for practice and take the team to tournaments was stolen earlier this month. It had been left parked outside an address in the city’s west flat area, and the owner told paNOW it had been left locked and the keys were with him.

Inside the van were all the club’s gear, medical supplies, a wrestling dummy, and a child’s car seat.

The van was recovered days later by RCMP in Tweedsmuir. According to several social media posts, the van had been involved in a number of theft-related incidents, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Whitefish was arrested around the same time the van was recovered, and RCMP indicated an unknown male left the scene before officers arrived.

There have been no details with respect to damage. A person close to the team told paNOW the van remains with police as the investigation continues.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact their local RCMP Detachment or police service.
