BRANDON, MB – Playing just 40 kilometres from his Rapid City, local boy Sloan Stanick scored the game-winner against hometown team.

He scored the overtime winner for the Raiders on Monday afternoon to help defeat the Brandon Wheat Kings 4-3 at Westoba Place.

The win is also the fourth in a row for PA and the third win in four days, where they defeated the Regina Pats 6-5 on Friday and the Moose Jaw Warriors 5-2 on Saturday.

Along with Stanick, Niall Crocker kept his point streak going with a goal of his own while captain Evan Herman had a pair of markers in the contest. Keaton Sorensen had three assists, Landon Kosior had two, and Crocker and Ryder Ritchie each had one.

Nolan Ritchie led the way for Brandon registering a goal and an assist, while Dawson Pasternak and Luke Shipley also scored in the game. Nate Danielson, Quinn Mantei, and Roger McQueen each had an assist in the game.

Tikhon Chaika got the nod in goal for PA where he made 30 saves for the victory, and to help the Raiders improve to 23-28-3-0 on the year.

Carson Bjarnason stopped 22 shots for the Wheat Kings where they fall to 22-24-8-0 on the season.

COMPLETE BOX SCORE

The Raiders got the party started midway through the first when a Kosior point shot was tipped in front by Crocker to put PA out front.

But the lead barely lasted a minute, as Ritchie intercepted a pass in his own end and scored on the breakaway to tie it up.

Fast forward to the second now where the Wheat Kings took the lead. Just 45 seconds into the frame, Ritchie got his second point of the night while assisting on Pasternak’s powerplay marker.

Prince Albert had an answer two minutes later when Herman fired a rocket over the short side shoulder of Bjarnason to re-tie this game at two.

Brandon didn’t let off the gas though and scored another two minutes after the Raiders tied it. Shipley scored the Wheaties second powerplay marker of the period as they held a 3-2 lead going into the third.

The Raiders went to work in the final frame and there, the captain managed to pull PA back to even once again. Crocker threw the puck in front of the Brandon goal where it went off a defender and landed on the tape of Herman. He then calmly backhanded the puck home for his second tally of the game to make it three all.

The game went to extras where Stanick had the puck deep in the Brandon zone and dumped it off to Sorensen on the near side. Stanick then looped behind the defender and, with a perfect pass from Sorensen through the defender, he went between the legs for the game-winning goal to help PA take it 4-3.
