Hawks host Flin Flon for final time this season
The Nipawin Hawks will host Flin Flon for the third and last time Tuesday in Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) action.
The Bombers hold a three to one lead in the season series with another game still set to take place at the Whitney Forum on March 3. Tuesday’s game is Nipawin’s first action since a 6-5 overtime loss to Kindersley on Valentine’s Day. With a much needed break that assisted in the team dealing with some health issues. Head Coach Tad Kozun said the players are getting healthy and prepared for three games this week including two at home.
“It’s going to a good run; we’re excited to get back in it. It’s nice to back in the Cage, back in front of our home fans. We’ll be ready to go,” he said.
The Hawks currently hold down the final SJHL playoff spot, tied with seventh place Weyburn with one more game remaining than the Red Wings. After Tuesday’s home contest with the Bombers, the Hawks have a home-and-home with Humboldt on the weekend. Kozun said March gets even busier with games every other day next month, however the team needs to focus on Flin Flon first.
