SHA to launch online system for patients to book lab appointments

Feb 21, 2023 | 3:41 PM

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) will begin expanding an online booking system to include lab services starting next month.

Once launched, there will be six lab sites on which patients can book lab services online: three in Moose Jaw, one in Prince Albert, one in North Battleford, and one in Swift Current.

Booking for blood/urine collection, ECG, blood/urine collection, and ECG and glucose tolerance tests will be available.

“The expansion of the patient booking system is a huge step forward in our efforts to maximize efficiency and ensure safety in our delivery of lab services,” said Lenore Howey, the Executive Director of Laboratory Medicine Clinical Services for SHA. “Booking online only takes a few minutes, making things simple and fast for those who are scheduling their appointments.”

Not all locations and tests can be booked online at this time. In the meantime, people can also book by phoning 1-833-727-5829 anytime between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. seven days a week.

Appointments will be phased into SHA lab locations across the province. If you do not see the appointment type available, you’re told to continue with the current booking process.

The online system can be found here. It is the quickest way to book an appointment and is available at all hours of the day.

To book your appointment, you will need your valid health care, and a phone number or email to receive notifications.
