Mintos collect crucial two points in 5-1 rout of Hounds

PRINCE ALBERT, SK – The Prince Albert Mintos steamrolled the defending champion Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday afternoon 5-1 at the Art Hauser Centre.

The win comes on the heels of a tough 3-2 loss to the Warman Wildcats on Friday night.

Konnor Watson earned the home star for Prince Albert for his performance where he chalked up a goal and an assist. Logan Pickford and Ashton Tait put up the same stat line in the contest. Nolan Patterson and Carter Cole also lit the lamp while Roper Blanchard had an assist.

Bryant Linklater had the lone marker for the Hounds while Kaden MacLean had the assist on the play.

Jayden Kraus made 24 stops to collect the win to help PA improve to 22-18-0-3 on the campaign.

Oliver Tuchenhagen got the nod for Notre Dame where he saved 15 shots as the Hounds round out their regular season with a 22-17-0-4 record.

PLAYOFF PUSH: Sunday’s win puts the Mintos just one point back of the Hounds for seventh place in the standings with one game remaining. Notre Dame has no more games remaining on the schedule, meaning if PA wins their next contest they will move into seventh and face the Regina Pat Canadians in round one of the playoffs. As of right now, the Mintos are set to face the Saskatoon Blazers in round one.

The Mintos last game of the season happens Monday night at the Art Hauser Centre where PA will faceoff with the Saskatoon Contacts. Puck drop is at 7pm.
