P.A. city crews starting snow grading on residential streets

Feb 26, 2023 | 8:01 AM

The City of Prince Albert will be snow-grading residential streets for the next couple of weeks.

Crews will officially start working on Feb. 27th with hopes of finishing in two weeks if the weather cooperates.

Carlton Park and parts of Crescent Acres, south of Olive Diefenbaker, are first on the list.

The city has made a map that shows where grading has been completed, is ongoing, or will be happening in the near future.

Street signs will also be up to remind residents to move their vehicles off the road. Those who don’t move their vehicles will be fined $100, which can be reduced to $50 if paid early.

Residents are also being reminded that the grading will create windrows. If a windrow at the front of a driveway is bigger than six inches, city crews will come back and remove it. If it’s smaller, then it’s up to the property owner.

For those who live in cul-de-sacs, crews will be piling the snow in the centre. They’ll be back at a later time to clear it out.

As for sidewalks, crews can use up to one-third of the walkway to use for piling snow. Residents are responsible for the other two-thirds of the sidewalk in front of their homes, while downtown businesses must tend to the ones on their property.

More information, including what to do if your vehicle is towed, can be found on the city of P.A.’s website.
