Local wrestling teams lock up impressive medal count at Sask. Winter Games

The Sask Winter Games wrapped up Saturday in Regina, and there was no shortage of acknowledgement for the Team Lakeland and Team North wrestling teams.

Lakeland’s Noah Remy, who won gold in her event, was chosen as flag bearer for the closing ceremonies.

Bringing home silver medals were Nathan Kowal (Lakeland) and Denaya Neudorf (Lakeland).

Noah Penney (Lakeland) won bronze, as did Hayden Cyr and Tymofiy Kvashulko.

Both Cyr and Kvashulko are from Prince Albert, but were helping fill some vacant spots for Team Sask. North.

Team Lakeland also finished fourth overall in the team dual competition. Prairie central district won the bronze with additional points.

Regina won gold and Saskatoon took the silver.

Members of Team Lakeland included: Juandre Welgemoed, Noah Penney, Tymofiy Kvashulko, Kalyan Mackie, Nathan Kowal, Noah Remy, Ava Fyrk, Gabriella Puentespina, Sydney Rumbaoa, Denaya Neudorf, and Thaddeus Chabaylo.

Team Sask. North members included: Parker Gobeil, Daniel Daignault, Hayden Cyr, Jonah Sanderson, Brett Petit, Madeline Morgan, Claire Haynes, and Tradyn Lemaigre. Herman told paNOW the team is pretty eager and excited for the games.
