Ice Wolves win big on the road, thrash Mustangs 6-1

MELFORT, SK – The La Ronge Ice Wolves hung half a dozen on the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night, winning 6-1 at the Northern Lights Palace.

Kale Taylor led the way for the Wolves, netting a goal and two assists while Ethan Strik scored twice and Parker Layton collected a goal and an assist. Jacob Cossette and Rylan Silzer also found the back of the net for La Ronge, Walker Jerome and Trenton Curtis had a pair of assists, and Liam McInnis, Jacob Visentini, and Dallyn Peekeekoot each had an assist in the game.

Hayden Tuba was the lone goal scorer for the Mustangs while Leyton Holoien collected the lone assist on the play.

Dawson Smith was near perfect for the Wolves, stopping 33 shots to help La Ronge improve to 31-18-3-2 on the campaign.

Joel Favreau turned aside 24 shots for Melfort where the Mustangs fall to 29-16-5-3 on the year.

The Ice Wolves are back in action on Mar. 10 when they host the Flin Flon Bombers at the Mel Hegland Uniplex. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
