A moose on the loose has caused quite the topic of discussion for residents within the Town of Tisdale.

The large animal was originally spotted and reported around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning, before being seen again around 2:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

According to the Tisdale Rant and Rave Facebook page, the largest and heaviest living species in the deer family has been wandering through backyards on 108th Avenue, as well as in driveways and running down the middle of the road on 111th avenue, by Wicks gas bar and car wash.

NortheastNOW reached out to the Town of Tisdale for comment, however, they didn’t have much to comment on unless it becomes an issue.

Chief Administrative Officer Brad Hvidston, said they are aware of the moose, and that it’s typical for the area to see them a couple of times a year.

“Usually, they come to town for a couple of days and then they disappear,” he explained. “We just obviously want people to be cautious, as it is a wild animal, however, it’s currently not posing an imminent threat at this time. If people are worried about it, they can call us or a conservation officer, and we can deal with it if it decides to stick around or becomes a nuisance.”

NortheastNOW will continue to monitor the situation, and should anything follow, will provide updates if needed.
