Everything AND the kitchen sink; The Melfort Mustangs Online Auction is back

Mar 15, 2023 | 12:02 PM

The Melfort Mustangs are bringing a whole new meaning to everything but the kitchen sink with its annual online auction.

The annual auction marks the beginning of the fundraising year for the Mustangs.

Director of Marketing and Business Mat Barrett told northeastNOW this event brings together all things local.

“It’s one of our bigger fundraisers of the year,” Barrett said. “We ask for donations from local businesses, and they’ve been extremely generous to us and have given us some great items each and every year.”

Although fans support the local hockey teams by buying tickets, merchandise and various fundraisers, there are a lot of costs when it comes to running the team.

“This goes towards our team— anything under the sun that our team may need, bus trips, hotels, food on the road for the boys,” said Barret. “The money that’s raised here goes to make sure that the Mustangs can stay on the ice.”

For those wanting to score some hot deals while supporting their favourite hockey team, you can head to the Bruce Schapansky auctioneers website. There you will find a full list of available items.

As for what you can bid on, Barrett said with nearly 200 items up for grabs this year they are offering a variety of original and unique products.

“We literally have a kitchen sink this year. So it kind of puts a whole new meaning to everything but the kitchen sink.”

Although this is far from the end of the fundraising year for the Mustangs, those involved with the team express their gratitude for the community’s continued support.

“Thanks to everyone who donated this year and everyone who is going to bid as well. It’s a huge help for us and we appreciate anybody that participates.”
