Nipawin Lions Club hopes the community will attend the annual trade show in full force to help those in need

The Nipawin Lions Club is hoping to see the community come out in full force at their annual trade show so they can continue to help those in need.

The event, which is back for the second straight year after previously being canceled twice due to the pandemic, is back at the community’s Evergreen Centre from Mar. 31 to Apr. 2

All the funds raised will be used to help those who need financial aid during medical treatments. This includes those in Nipawin, Choiceland, White Fox, Carrot River, and Codette.

While they get to help people directly, club president Brian Starkell told northeastNOW nothing would be possible if it wasn’t for their supporters.

“It’s community involvement. People know that we give back to the community,” he said. “They give that support to us and then we give back to the community.”

Starkell has been with the Nipawin Lions Club since 1983 and recalled one of the most impactful giving events that he had gotten to be a part of.

“We purchased a dog for a lady and it’s not for sight. It is for hearing and if there’s something in the house that’s not right, the dog will alert the resident and get them to safety,” he said.

There’s no exact goal for how much they’ll be able to raise at the trade show, with Starkell explaining any support from the community is always appreciated.

Admission for the event is $2 with these funds, along with table fees, going right back to the Lions Club.
