Apr 4, 2023 | 5:26 PM

One man from Prince Albert is in custody while another is being sought by Spiritwood RCMP after a recent shooting incident on the Pelican Lake First Nation.

A warrant is out for the arrest of 33-year-old Melvin Starblanket of Witchekan Lake for various gun-related charges including discharging a firearm, as well as not complying with an undertaking.

Investigators are asking for all sightings of Starblanket to be reported immediately and warn the public not to approach him.

Starblanket is about 6-feet tall and weighs 150 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes, a tattoo of the letter KRD on the right side of his neck, and Superman logo on his right thumb.

He also has other tattoos on his arms and back.

Spiritwood RCMP were told of a gunshot in Pelican Lake at about 12:15 p.m. on March 30.

In the following response and investigation, officers learned that a group of people in a vehicle had shot a gun at a house then drove away. No injuries were reported.

Patrols turned up the suspect vehicle at a business in Spiritwood but when officers approached, a man inside the building fled on foot while the vehicle drove away at high speeds.

Officers followed the vehicle with lights and sirens, but the driver did not pull over and the chase continued for about 45 minutes.

A tire deflation device was used and the vehicle was disabled on Highway 55.

Police then arrested 21-year-old Tyson Starblanket of Prince Albert without incident.

He also faces multiple gun-related charges, fleeing from police, dangerous driving and failing to comply with release order conditions.

People who know about the whereabout of Melvin Starblanket can call the Spiritwood RCMP at 306-883-4210 or submit anonymous tips at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477) or on line at www.crimestoppers.com.
