New festival coming to Nipawin area

A new event is aiming to attract people to the Northeast to celebrate music.

The Haywire Farm Festival is set to take place on July 22^nd and July 23^rd with those attending able to enjoy different workshops, live art exhibits, food vendors, and musicians.

Organizer Patti Propp told northeastNOW that the festival will not only be filled with entertainment but also showcase local entrepreneurs.

“I’ve been really getting a lot of non-profit organizations and small businesses. So that’s been really nice partnerships with the community too.”

Propp previously organized music events in bars in Regina before moving to a farm in the Northeast.

“Events have always been a big thing for me. When I moved up here, I just had this vision, and it was just to bring the community together.”

It’ll take place at Haywire Farms Sask, which is 15 km southwest of Codette. Camping is included in the weekend pass for those who plan on attending both days of the event.

Festival goers who want to check out the mainstage can look forward to performances from Ches Anthony, Dirty & The Perks, Norman Doerksen, Kingsway Drive, Cheap Heat, Robin Mang, Psycho Hillbillies, Submit, Code E, Tribal Vibes Wild Fire, Malika ‘The Chanting Queen’ and comedian Jody Peters.

Those wanting to check out the workshops can look forward to Kundalini Yoga, Medicine Wheel teaching, herbal medicine, wire wrap, the fringe of the forest belly dancing, Ayurveda, guided meditation, gardening, bushcraft, and homesteading.

Propp also mentioned there will be a live mural happening during the festival and is still aiming to include more live artwork.

“I’m trying for two murals,” she said. “I’d like to get an Indigenous artist in here to do another mural.”

Tickets are $30-$50 for a day pass or $80 for the weekend. Tickets are available online.
